Explore the oldest national park in Sarawak, Bako National Park. Travel across the man-made Batang Ai lake in a longboat to arrive at your Iban longhouse accommodation perched on the shore of the lake. Meet the longhouse chief. Learn about their culture and lifestyle and; socialise with them in the evening. Stay at jungle camp in search of wild orangutans. Trek to Bukit Seligi, the legendary battle ground of the Iban, where a cliff known as ‘Apan Mayas’ (orang utan kingdom) is. Here, you may be lucky to spot an orang utan licking salt from a salt lick coming off the rocks. If you are a keen birder, the fringes of Batang Ai lake has a wealth of birdlife.
